Genre: Mystery/Suspense Click book cover for Amazon.com The Job by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg is the third book in the series involving F.B.I. agent Kate O’Hare and con man Nicolas Fox. Nick and Kate join forces to discover who has been impersonating Nick and stealing precious art around the world. Once that mystery is solved the two work to bring down a ruthless drug lord. This criminal mastermind has successfully altered his appearance in order to avoid justice. In order to catch him they bring in Kate’s dad, a retired military officer, along with a crew of eccentric friends of Nick. This caper has our incongruous duo globe hopping around the world. As usual for this series, the story involves copious amounts of suspense, humor, and sexual tension. The novel was an enjoyable read and certainly kept my interest throughout. If you haven’t read the first two books in the series I suggest you read them first. While it can be read as a stand alone novel, it will be more fun if you start from the beginning.

Genre: Science Fiction Click book cover for Amazon.com **The best book I've read in awhile**
Welcome to the world of dust. A long time ago the army let loose a lethal cloud of nanites, and every combustible fossil fuel in the world was rendered useless. Suddenly, some humans were able to create electricity. Sparks - they were called. Men were the strongest, and women weaker, and they were called to the Relo Cities to help pull their weight, earn their keep, and provide light in the darkness of the apocalypse. Enter Lena Gracey. A woman with a powerful secret. She is a strong spark. So strong her parents hid her away from the world and told everyone that their daughter was dead. Lena ran away from the Relo City and lived alone in the desert, taking care of herself and bothering no one. Until Alex Reyes came along. He needed Lena. There's an uprising brewing. Sparks are tired of powering the world, used up like slaves until they wither and die. The Council of 9 will do anything to maintain the status quo, and Alex is committed to changing the world. It's a bumpy ride as Alex and Lena come together to help the Sparks. It seems Lena isn't the only strong female Spark, and the Council is rounding up the others for nefarious purposes. Lena makes it her mission to save these girls. The tension between Lena and Alex is hot enough to burn you, and the action never stops. Sparks Rising is the best book I've read in awhile. The premise is fresh, the world building immaculate. Corcino has me hooked on the Progenitor Saga! It was a fun mystery to read and even though I had not read #’s 1 through 6 I had no trouble following the story. It worked well as a stand alone mystery. The book opens as Sarah Woods, a private investigator, arrives at the West Palm Beach airport to visit her boyfriend Max. Max is in Florida on a job updating the security system of a swanky condo on Singer Island. He invites Sarah down for a little R & R while he finishes his job. Sarah is surprised to find Max’s ex-girl friend picking her up at the airport. Jennifer was the one to hire Max for the job to begin with. Before the day is done Max’s boss dies of a heart attack and his much younger widow hires Sarah to investigate a blackmailing attempt. Sarah calls her mentor , Carter, who flies in to help Sarah with the case.
This was a fun read. It moved along quickly. There were lots of twist and turns in the story that made it an exciting read. Did Max’s boss really die a natural death? Is there more then friendship between Max and his ex? Who is blackmailing the widow? The questions kept me engaged and the writing was fast paced. I enjoyed the novel and intend to download the first six books in the series. - Judith Zerulik Publisher - Amazon Digital Services, Inc. Date of Publication - March1,2014 |
