After an injury puts former tennis pro Toni Lee out of competition forever, she becomes a party girl. Her family quickly tires of her drinking and poor behavior, and confronts her. Toni Lee must find a job and keep it for one year or lose her inheritance. With not a lot of options, she joins the Teacher Corps, an accelerated teacher training for anyone with a degree. Since the only openings were in math and special education, Toni Lee goes for the special education job. She is hired at Harriet Hall High School, an underprivileged, inner city school.
Toni Lee just wants to keep her head down and get through the year so she can cash in on her 5 million dollar inheritance. She doesn’t care about the students or their education. She is placed in an old portable with little supplies and less support. Her students hate her on sight. She quickly realizes that her principal is a corrupt individual and many of her fellow teachers are taking bets on how long she will last.
In some laugh out loud and often poignant situations, Toni Lee finds herself beginning to care about her students. Will Toni Lee find love? Will she find the strength to stand up to her principal? Will she be able to put other’s needs before her own? Will she find her passion? It was fun reading Girl Meet Class and finding the answers to all of the above questions.
