Within a few hours she finds her mother and Wilson's son Chris had changes in their plans and were going to be alone for Christmas. Cindy and Wilson have no choice but to include them in the fun. Then her agent, Geez Louise, (Cindy is an author) decides to join them too, and the romance seems doomed.
Things start off weirdly, Chris has no time for her but is so enamored with her octogenarian mother that he promises to teach mama to surf, and then it goes down hill from there. There is a murder at the resort they are staying at, and Chris seems to be the #1 suspect. Tessie wasn't in the clear either, and the crew spends their vacation solving the mystery while trying to prove Chris' innocence.
Blackburn's characters are charming and the plot moved along. It is a cozy mystery, so don't expect any deeply involved plot twists, but there are many little surprises and lots of laughs. Her use of animals enhances the story (after all, the key witness is a parrot that seems to have been "birdnapped") and the relationships between characters made me want to read more.
