Rescued is a story of a were-cougar couple with a problem. They've been mated, and now they have to learn how to deal with the bond and each other.
The main characters are Rose and Marty, both private detectives on the trail of missing teens. Thrown together by the case their mating becomes apparent very early in the book. I am NOT a fan of insta-love, but this book does a good job showing that couples can fight the constraints of a mating bond and learn to love each other in a more conventional way. (The only time I can tolerate instant love is in the case of mating bonds/soulmate scenarios)
Marty and Rose are somewhat well defined characters, though I would have liked to have had a deeper connection with them both as a reader. I liked their chemistry and their banter made me laugh.
I followed the mystery and the way the investigation proceeded pretty well, and the author did a good job of keeping the reader intrigued by what might be going on with the missing kids.
All in all a good read for anyone who likes shifter/were books.
