The book begins with Jack missing and suspected of embezzling 88 million dollars. He is on the run and desperate to find his daughter before the FBI find him. His law firm hires Liam and Catherine ( characters we met in Balson's previous book, Once We Were Brothers) to track down their money. I reviewed and highly recommended Once We Were Brothers, and loved the team of Liam and Catherine then, so I was quite happy to see them return.
Of course they are soon working to rescue Sophie along with a CIA operative, and we soon realize there is more than Sophie's rescue at stake. The battles in the mid-east are handled so well in this book, as Balson shows us both sides of the conflict. His research is evident, and he gives us brief history/geography lessons, along with a superb thriller. Although I was a bit confused in parts due to the many characters, I always found my way back to a story that is definitely worth reading.
