Rather than curling up in a ball, Amelia decides to open up a food truck that specializes in cupcakes. With the support of her children, Meg and Adam, she begins her adventure in their home town of Gary, Oregon. The truck is gorgeous, the cupcakes are yummy, and Amelia is ready to go. Unfortunately, the dead man in the dining area puts a bit of a hamper on things.
Matthew, a heavily tattooed, former gang member and present neighbor of The Pink Cupcake is a prime suspect. Amelia does not believe he is guilty and decides to help prove his innocence. This short novel kept me turning pages as I got more and more involved in the delightful characters. Matthew is trying to rebuild his life, as is Amelia, and the reader has plenty to root for as the investigation continues. While there are definitely characters to dislike, this is more of a feel good novel, and the relationship between mother and children made me smile throughout.
